Student Advocacy

Ryerson students have academic rights and access to students' union representation.

Students have a right to fair treatment from professors and the University, including fair procedures in the administration of all methods of evaluation.  If you feel you have been treated unfairly and wish to appeal a grade in an assignment or test, you have a right to do so.

CESAR employs a full-time staff member to assist you with grade and standing appeals.  The Student Rights Coordinator will help you with resolving issues with your course and professor.

  • Listening to your concerns
  • Advising you of various options for handling your concerns
  • Connecting you with appropriate faculty, staff, or departments
  • Identifying policies, procedures or regulations that may be of relevance to your situation
  • Assisting in the preparation and completion of complaints and any necessary appeal forms and letters
  • Assisting you at academic hearings, if required
