We need your help to build support for the Day of Action for Civil Liberties this Saturday, July 10. There is limited time to outreach to our friends, families and communities to ensure broad participation and to maximize the impact of our call for a public inquiry.

-       Post notice of the day of action on your website home page

-       Send notice of the day of action to your mailing lists using the e-ad below 

Individuals

- Post the event to your facebook profile (http://bit.ly/aSJT7n) and invite all your friends by emailing or calling them

- Participate in a mass leafleting session at the corner of Queen and Spadina on Friday, July 9 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm

- Volunteer on the day of action by arriving at Queen's Park in front of the stage on the south lawn on Saturday July 10 at 12:00pm

PRIDE March

The RSU and RyePRIDE and CESAR are joining forces for a large contingent during this year's PRIDE March.

The March starts at 2pm but we need your help to decorate the truck and make it fabulously. So meet up early at the north-west corner of Bloor & Yonge and walk down RosedaleValley together.

Be sure to look for our vehicle and marching contingent because OUR PRIDE IS POLITICAL! If yours is too, join us.

Take Back The Dyke March

This is a women and women-identified only space. Male allies can show their support by joining the crowds and ensuring a safe space during the march.

PRIDE BBQ

RSU and RyePRIDE would like to invite you to our annual Pride Kick- off BBQ next Wednesday, June 30th at 4pm at the Ram in the Rye.

This is our way to celebrate the beginning of Pride and to thank the amazing people who have helped sponsor our events and have provided help in the planning process. There will be guest speakers, a drag performance, as well as free food.

Know Your Rights!

You have the right to protest. If the police or anyone else questions or attempts to search you remember:

  • You do not have to answer any questions
  • You do not have to identify yourself
  • You do not have to allow police to search your belongings; if they insist, state loudly and repeatedly I do not consent to a search, but     do not physically interfere

 If Arrested

  • Do not resist arrest, and repeat loudly, "I am not resisting."
  • If they want to strip search you, make sure you let them know you do not consent, and inform a lawyer as soon as possible
  • Do not sign any release papers, agree to bail conditions, answer any questions or sign immigration papers until you have received  legal advice
