Fall Bursary applications are available  for students taking courses that start on the week of September 13, 2010 and end on the week of December 13, 2010.

The form will be available the first week of classes. Please check back our website at a later date.

General Bursary Programme

CESAR believes that a person's financial status should not be a barrier to accessing post-secondary education. In Ontario, tuition fees have increased 20 to 36 % in the past 4 years, with average student debt at $25,000.

We recognise that the need for bursaries far exceeds what CESAR can accommodate.  Your students’ union is committed to working with the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) to ensure that funding towards post-secondary education is made a priority for the provincial government.


CESAR members requiring financial assistance are eligible to apply for a CESAR Bursary.  Applications for the four opportunities (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer) are all available on-line through the CESAR website during the respective academic term.  


Since bursaries are subject to demand and availability, there is no guarantee that an applicant will receive a bursary.
 


CESAR bursaries are not tuition fee reimbursements but rather disbursements in a cheque amount awarded within six weeks or 1.5 months after the application deadline.  All applicants are still responsible for paying or deferring their own tuition fees through Ryerson University.

Application Process

Applications are reviewed by the CESAR Bursary Committee and all decisions are final, with no appeal process. To ensure that your application is submitted correctly, please fill out all sections of the online form carefully and completely.


Upon submitting your application, the online system alerts you with a verification message on the screen, in addition, a verification message confirming receipt of your application will be sent to the email provided in your application. You must receive this notification, otherwise your form was not submitted (and you will need to resubmit).


CESAR will not be taking any inquires from students on bursary applications and all applicants will be contacted AFTER a decision has been made, whether or not you are awarded a bursary.


If you are in need of assistance or due to accessibility need require an alternate method to submit your application, please contact the CESAR office directly.

Applicant Eligibility

You are ELIGIBLE, if you:

•    Require financial assistance during your period of study
•    Are a CESAR member, part-time, continuing education or distance education student, during the term applying

 
You are NOT ELIGIBLE, if you:

•    Are a full-time student
•    Are a graduate student
•    Have been previously barred from funding
•    Received a Chang School Tuition Fee Bursary for the same academic term you are applying for a CESAR Bursary

You may only apply once each term, and are only eligible to apply for the term which you are actually registered for classes.


IMPORTANT:
Full-time and graduate students at Ryerson University are automatically disqualified from being eligible for the CESAR bursary program, regardless of simultaneously being enrolled into a CE course. 

Full-time and graduate student applicants will be encouraged to apply to the Ryerson Students' Union bursaries. To check your student status, please visit RAMSS (my.ryerson.ca) check Student Fees -> Account Inquiry -> Account Information" if you are unsure about your current student status.

Spring & Summer 2010 General Bursary

The CESAR bursary online application will be available on our website starting May 4 for Spring courses, and June 23 for Summer courses.

Please note the following deadlines for each term:

Spring Bursary

The "Spring Bursary" application is available  for students taking courses that start in the week of May 3, 2010 and end in the week of June 17, 2010.

Deadline to apply: Friday May 28, 2010 at NOON.


Summer Bursary

The "Summer Bursary" application is available for students taking courses that start in the week of June 23, 2010 and end in the week of August 12, 2010.

Deadline to apply EXTENDED: Friday July 23, 2010 at NOON

DISCLAIMER: Students who are "full-time" in the fall and winter terms are still considered "full-time" during the spring/summer term, and are NOT eligible for the CESAR bursary.

Winter 2011 General Bursary

Winter Bursary applications are available for students taking courses that start on the week of January 10, 2011 and end on the week of April 11, 2011.

Deadline to apply: Friday March 4, 2011 at NOON.

Chang School Tuition Fee Reimbursement Bursary

The Chang School offers a tuition fee reimbursement bursary for all continuing education students. The deadline for the bursary is prior to the start of the term. For example, the Fall term bursary deadline is August 13, and students will be notified of a decision prior to the start of class in the Fall.

Completed applications must be recieved at the Chang School (Heaslip House, 297 Victoria Street) by 4:30pm on the date of the deadline.

Fall 2010 term: Friday August 13, 2009 at 4:30pm

Winter 2011: Friday November 11, 2009 at 4:30pm

Spring/Summer 2011: Friday March 11, 2010 at 4:30pm

Applications can be submitted to the Chang School as soon as the applicant has enrolled in the class.
